Smith & Nephew ensures product labelling compliance with Ultimate
Smith & Nephew, a global leader in advanced wound management, endoscopy and orthopaedics products, has deployed an integrated labelling solution, Ultimate™ Suite from Episys, the global information technology solutions and services company, to ensure industry-leading labelling.
Episys’ Ultimate offers fully feature label printing packages and will enable Smith & Nephew to exercise greater control and flexibility over the labelling of products in its advanced wound management division, which is responsible for 60 per cent of global sales and the products are sold in around 60 different countries.
Smith & Nephew selected Ultimate from Episys, as the system that they were using was not networked. Each individual machine had to be individually updated with new labels, and the system kept losing certain images (bmp symbols) from the labels. Smith & Nephew also needed a solution that would allow the company to produce labels that are compliant with the Medical Device Directive and various regulatory bodies such as the FDA. Ultimate automatically incorporates these changes so Smith & Nephew is always up to date.
