Royston, 8th January 2008, 'Tony Mealing Golf Shop', at the Kendleshire Golf Club, Bristol, has ordered Retail Enterprise Suite™ Single User from Episys to provide it with an integrated signage system, to improve communications with customers...

Retail Enterprise Suite, which will enable the shops to create and change their own signs on site, also features a ‘silent salesman’ which saves the need for salespeople to always be available to speak with the customer, as many visitors to the shop prefer to read information for themselves and make their own decisions.

Episys is supplying the store with its Retail Enterprise Suite solution, installing and implementing the software on the main shop PC and on the shop laptop, along with training and ongoing support. Initial training began in mid November and the company has already started to create signage for the shop.

Tony Mealing said, “We see the new signage system as a key driver for boosting our business. We have an overall desire to improve presentation and increase our margins. Before the new solution we were creating individual signs on demand with no template. We needed a more efficient way to man the store and produce PoS material. We needed more creativity for our promotions, for example linked promotions. We are now able to download logos and material for our signs. The system offers the potential for a database to store logos. We were looking for one sign system to deliver too many mediums, for example paper signs, posters for event promotions and shelf edge labels. We are sure that the new system will give the store a more professional look and achieve a sales uplift.”

Tony Mealing has held the position of Head Professional at the Kendleshire Golf Club since June 2005. Tony set about completely overhauling the shop, stocking high quality golf products at competitive prices, and building up a loyal customer base.

As the business grew, it became apparent that although the shop had many loyal customers, the majority of golfers and shoppers were not aware of the fact that Tony Mealing Golf Shops not only had a very wide product range, but also very competitive prices, matching or beating every high street and green grass retailer they compared with. Realising that they were a best kept secret, the company decided to address advertising and marketing in a bid to overcome this issue. They needed to let everyone who came into the shop know about the wide range of goods at low prices through signage.

Their existing system only allowed them to output a very limited range of signage. Most of the signs carried no logo or information about the products, and no details about promotional offers. To boost
the business, the company decided to introduce uniformed, informative and effective signage within the shop.

Tony Mealing Golf Shop chose Retail Enterprise Suite from Episys after hearing about the results and business benefits that the solution had delivered to Windmill Hill Golf Centre, another Episys customer.

Retail Enterprise Suite is a set of modules that can be configured to leverage existing data in a client environment along with data managed by the Retail Enterprise Suite modules. Through the suite of modules, retailers are able to drive content from a single source to all types of output media including paper, the World Wide Web, plasma/LCD displays, handheld mobile devices and electronic signs. This ensures the integrity of your promotional message and eliminates data redundancy.

Peter Lewis, Marketing Director at Episys said, “This new win will enable Episys to increase its knowledge of the golf retail sector and with the co-operation of Tony and his team we hope to refine our offer even further so that we can continue to win new business from the golf and specialist retailers.”
