Following the news in the UK of a Value Added Tax (VAT) reduction from 17.5% to 15%, British Retail Consortium Director General Stephen Robertson commented that implementing a new VAT rate in just one week will be exceptionally difficult for customers and retailers at their busiest time of year. To pass on the savings to their customers, retailers will have to change all their price labels for items that carry VAT by December 1st, a huge undertaking at any time of year, but particularly just before Christmas. Episys’ clients were fortunate enough to have systems that meant they were able to rapidly re-ticket their entire stores where necessary.
